Course Agenda: In the morning, our IADLEST certified instructors review Body Worn Cameras: Tactics for Effective Use. This 3.5 hour program will go beyond the technical aspects of the device and dive into how officers can tactically use this technology. This allows the capture of better evidence for their cases, ensures the senses officers utilize to build their cases are captured in the recording, assists organizations with more thorough investigations internally for their organizations as well as for their criminal prosecutions. After lunch, our instructors continue with providing officers, supervisors, and civilian personnel, with key survival strategies when they are being recorded by citizens in our Caught on Camera: Viral Video Survival course. These encounters can ruin our organizations and our employees. Through training, we can prepare for this inevitable event. This 3.5 hour program will review case studies of encounters gone wrong. This interactive workshop will allow attendees to strategize and practice ways they can message in the moment to ensure their career survival, agency image, and our professional image are successfully maintained. The use of force in law enforcement is a dynamic and necessary element of the profession. It is essential that an organizational program is designed to ensure officers recognize immediate dangers, immediately determine mitigation opportunities, and employ force correctly when necessary. It is critical that supervisory oversight occurs in the field and immediately after force is utilized. This one-day course is the use of force overview all officers’ need. It moves beyond general orders, policy and state mandated training and moves in to the ‘why’ behind the laws. This class provides the foundation by which all force situations will be examined. It is critical that all officers at all levels attend and understand this foundational basis.
