Course Description:
Working a budget for a law enforcement operation is more that just numbers. Forecasting needs, understanding your community, working with key stakeholders, and understanding the political climate are all essential to the creation and management of your finances. Once the budget is secured, this living document needs to be managed through quality purchasing and monitoring. The budget and finance area of management may be new to supervisory and command staff personnel. For this reason, training is essential. Evidence-driven rational for budgetary decisions are essential for all law enforcement leaders to understand. This course will expose attendees to different types of budgetary models, understanding the purchasing process, reviewing capital-based budgets, understanding seizure accounts, navigating the public hearings, and more.
